Transferring a call to you

What happens when a caller asks for someone: right away, after a question, after trying to help, a warm transfer, or emergencies only.

In Settings → Transfer to a person you choose what the assistant does when a caller asks to talk to someone:

  • Connect right away: the caller is connected to you at once, no questions.
  • Ask a question first: the assistant asks a question you set (for example "What is it about?"), then connects.
  • Try to help first: the assistant tries to help itself. If the caller asks again, it connects them to you.
  • Warm transfer: the assistant puts the caller on hold, calls you, tells you in one sentence who is on the line and why, then connects you. If you don't answer, it offers the caller to leave you a message.
  • Emergencies only: only a life at risk comes to you at once. The assistant handles everything else itself.

You can also turn transfers off: the assistant handles every call itself, and in an emergency tells the caller to call the emergency services.

Transfers to you need a number to transfer to. Without one, no call is transferred to you, and the row in Settings says so.

Have a team? In Team you set who handles what. A request to talk to someone goes to the right person, and when nobody fits or answers, a message is taken and becomes a task in Tasks. Transfers to team members work on Pro and up: on a lower plan a task is left instead. Transfers to you work on every plan. See Team.
